Tenants wishing to operate an air-conditioner in their apartment during the summer months of June, July and August, are first required to request permission in writing, as per the terms of your lease, from Greater Sudbury Housing Corporation and pay the air conditioner fee. Where the Housing Corporation pays for electricity, a flat fee of $100 for the season will be charged to recover the additional hydro-electricity expense from the operation of an air conditioner in the unit.
If you wish to install an air conditioner and are unsure of how to do so, you should contact qualified personnel. All costs to install, operate and remove the air conditioner are the tenants' responsibility. No alterations are permitted to adapt the unit to allow for an air conditioner.
If you wish to operate an air conditioner, the $100 charge will be placed directly on your account and payment for this fee can be made by cash, cheque or money order.
If you currently pay your rent directly from your bank account through pre-authorized payments, please make payment for this fee by cash, cheque or money order to avoid confusion or errors.
